ABOUT US

Learn It Fast Financial Training, also known as LIFFT, is a provider of financial training with a primary focus on fixed income rates and derivatives.  LIFFT specializes in explaining complex financial topics in a clear, understandable fashion for clients at all different levels of experience.  We currently offer corporate training, tutoring, and consulting in various fixed income rates and derivatives products and markets such as vital bond math concepts, yield curves, Treasuries, Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS), repo, financial futures, options, and swaps.  Training is provided by an instructor with extensive professional and industry experience in these financial products and markets.  LIFFT training is designed for maximum impact with minimum learning time. Topics are examined from a practical, real world, market oriented perspective.

​Joseph Shatz: Founder and President

Joseph Shatz worked at Merrill Lynch for 18 years where he was a Senior Director in Fixed Income Research.  In his role as the head of financial futures and options and government bond strategy, Joseph was responsible for covering Treasuries, TIPS, and fixed income derivatives such as futures, options, and swaps with a focus on analyzing macro and relative value trade and investment opportunities as well as designing and implementing hedging strategies.  Joseph generated and published market views and actionable trade ideas and advised clients on market positioning, investing, and trading.

Joseph taught classes and provided education and training on bond mathematics, TIPS, futures, options, swaps, and other fixed income and derivatives internally for continuing education and new analyst/associate training programs and for a broad range of external clients including foreign central banks, pension funds, mutual funds, asset managers, and hedge funds.

Joseph has extensive public speaking and teaching experience and has spoken at conferences and events across the US and world.  He has advised senior officials at the United States Treasury, NY Federal Reserve, IMF, GAO, CME/CBOT, LIFFE, World Bank, and foreign central banks across the world.  Joseph was a highly rated key speaker at world central bank conferences in Spain, Portugal, and Italy and at many fixed income and derivative client conferences in the US and abroad.  He was a keynote speaker at many CME/CBOT conferences and a presenter at the OECD/World Bank/IMF Global Bond Market Conference in Washington DC.   He has taught seminars for the NY Federal Reserve on fixed income and derivative products and markets and has been a guest lecturer at Fordham University MBA School.

Joseph graduated from Cornell University with degrees in both mathematics and economics.
